Thuan An city has a natural area of ​​83.71 km2, located in the south of Binh Duong province; The East borders Di An city, the North borders Thu Dau Mot city and Tan Uyen town, Binh Duong province, the West borders District 12, the South borders Thu Duc district, Ho Chi Minh city;

The city has 10 affiliated commune-level administrative units, including 9 wards: An Phu, An Thanh, Binh Chuan, Binh Hoa, Binh Nham, Hung Dinh, Lai Thieu, Thuan Giao, Vinh Phu and An Son commune. In particular, two wards Lai Thieu and An Thanh were formerly two towns in the old Thuan An district, considered the two oldest residential and commercial centers in Thuan An since the reign of King Minh Mang.

In August 1999, implementing the Government's Decree No. 58/1999/ND-CP, the district was divided into Thuan An and Di An districts, in which, Thuan An district has 10 administrative units (08 communes and 8 communes and 1 communes and 1 communes, 2 communes and 1 communes). 02 towns), 56 neighborhoods - hamlets, the population of the whole district at this time is 361,604 people.

By the end of 2013, Binh Nham and Hung Dinh communes were upgraded to wards according to the Government's Resolution No. 136/NQ-CP dated December 29, 2013. Currently, Thuan An city has 09 wards and 01 commune.

By February 1, 2020, Thuan An town was upgraded to a city according to Resolution No. 857/NQ-UBTVQH14 dated January 10, 2020 of the National Assembly Standing Committee.

Socio-Economic Situation

Over the years, Thuan An city has always been one of the leading localities in the industrialization and modernization of Binh Duong province.
